I might not be up to much sustainable commuting at the moment but I'm definitely enjoying riding the 90 miles for the NIPANC Pedal the Periphery challenge 2025!
Updates
Time to work off the weekend.
Getting the train is amazing! In 45 minutes I had a doze, did some people watching, and looked at the coastline going by.
Thank you Mr Burrows for fixing my bike with an Allen Key!
Cycle to the shops instead of taking car, surprised at how far it was.
i do a bit of walking /hill walking and road cycling and indoor cycling on a WATT bike for exercise and also sometimes cycle to work and while inspecting PLIC walks i cycle the areas on a small fold up bike which is very handy for this job .
Car sharing all week, hope to WFH one day per week in June 2025
Lovely evening then it started to rain - not for long.
Good to get a second run in this week, the challenge has motivated me to get back into it.
Bussing it to work has allowed me to listen to music and relax on my commute.
Tandem bike school run this morning. A kid said excitedly to his mum that 'we should get one of those' to which she agreed. I said you're in luck as it's for sale! Kid was delighted, mum not so.
A pre-breakfast walk, thankfully rain free.
Had to travel to an appointment at Holywood Arches today from my home in North Belfast. Cycled there and back and got absolutely soaked going and coming back again! However, I'm not made of sugar, and I'm still here and feel fitter for it.
Post lunch dander...windy today.
I stepped out of my comfort zone today and borrowed my husband e-bike for the first time to make the journey to work and it was so refreshing! Skipped the traffic rush and feeling wonderful for it!
I walked part of the way to the hospital to visit my husband. Then car shared with my parents. They then drove me home.
I also walked my dog before heading out. 0ver 15,000 steps so far today
38 mile round trip cycled to both days of First Aid training completed! Qualified for another 3 years.
Great cycle to Belfast Harlequins to watch the Tag Rugby. Greenway on Halftown Road need verges cleaned back. Lagan Navigation Towpath needs some roots fixed coming up through the tarmac. Lisburn Road from Kings Hall to Lambeg is rough road, not pleasant to cycle on. Beautiful sunset on the way home.
Getting 10000 steps a day isn't hard at all. A return trip to work does the trick for me. Oh, wear a nice walking shoes and bring a raincoat / umbrella, always.
Cycled to a work meeting which meant I was there and back home in no time - and also got some fresh air!
